** It could just be low or empty. Just pour pure, undilluted AF in, see howmuch it takes, then gauge the heat difference. It may take lots and be enough to make you happy.

Really as you said it has become very big problem, keeping the technical information about vehicles in secret. Not allowing the independent mechanics to learn and work upon cars. Even today We are finding it very difficult to get Service manuals of Newly launched Cars or Old cars. Car companies want to continue mint money through their authorized service stations. This is very BAD. No Democracy.

If the car manufacturers could get away with it, they'd scrub the word "mechanic" from our memories and replace it with a "certified technician".

The problem started with consumer protection and ASE certifications, aka government intervention.

6 months into a 3-year lease of a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek (best car I've ever had). I drive 20K miles/year in Upper Michigan and this early winter proved out the AWD control and stability I was looking for. You actually have to control the tendency to OVERDRIVE the car - because it can GO like a mother, but it can't STOP like a mother. Considering snow tires just to get better stopping power in the snow. Downsides: Defroster is underpowered - and, while you can Remote Start the car in full defost mode that mode doesn't seem to be available via the selector knob. Weird. Also, on a dry road I had a pickup turn left in front of me, plenty of room - but it didn't clear the LEFT lane fast enough for the Eyesight System, which AGGRESSIVELY applied the brakes. I don't want a repeat on snow or ice...

The consumer and independent mechanics are already protected by the Magnuson-Moss Act in 1975... dealers cannot void warranties if the work was done in a shop other than a dealer... this is not an issue. All good automotive mechanics should be aware of this...

Scotty, great videos! Here's a head scratcher for ya... 1996 Chevy Impala SS, the "Change oil light" won't reset.
I can turn the light off and on manually with the TEC II plugged in, but the light comes back on when it's disconnected, and there is nowhere in the menu that allows for a manual reset.
Have you ever seen this before, and do you know where the circuitry for that oil life system lives? There is seemingly little information online anywhere, and the dealer has no clue, so you're the last hope!!

What this is going to do is drastically drop car prices. Or people will just lease it, beat it up like a rental, then dump them back on the dealer. Nobody is going to want a 3 year old car, beat to hell and going to break sooner.

Now to replace a ic you need to cool down the ic in steps over time for the advanced solder different types they use. Expensive equipment to do correct.

Car manufacturers and dealerships now make most of their money from repairing the cars. So they are incentivized to make unreliable cars. Does anybody else see a problem with that?

I agree with him talking about "fair" price for information, however, we have a right to repair as independent shops. The fact is, if a car is under manufacturer warranty, why would you take it someplace to have it fixed where you'd have to pay? Most cars today come with a 3/36 and 5/60 for powertrain. Some come with 10/100, so indy shops won't see a model year until it is out of warranty most of the time. The ability to gain access to modules and other such information is absolutely there for indy shops.

Reminds me of that scene from Fight Club.

Narrator: A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.

Woman on plane: Are there a lot of the kinds of accidents?

                                                                                      Narrator: You wouldn't believe.

Woman: Which car company do you work for?

                                                                                      Narrator: A major one.

There is a reason why the mitsubishi mirage has continually had positive upwards sales despite being a subcompact car and being cheaply made. Simply the fact that it is so cheap and easy to maintain without all the over complicated technology and voided warranties present. Most manufacturers don't realize that many people don't want, need, or use most of this extra technology and just want a affordable, basic car that they can fix or can take to their trusted mechanic. As cars become more expensive and ridiculous to maintain, expect another crash in the car market as more people keep their more reliable older cars or stick with simpler cars like the mirage.
